First Year in Business

My first year as a new business owner has just completely flown by.  I have learned a lot about the fabric business and just business in general.  Fabric and design are my passions, so going to work every day is a joy.  I work hard and come home exhausted, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  My other favorite thing is getting to work with my mom, Drenda, every day.  I hope that through my choices and decisions at the store, I can continue to grow my business even more so that when people think of fabric for their home, they think of Willow Tree Fabrics.  We continuously hear customers tell us that they love the selection of fabrics we carry and that we have things they don't see anywhere else.  That is such a compliment to hear how much customers love our store and the service they receive.  When I meet with fabric reps I try to pick fabrics that are unusual and may not be found at every other store in the area.  I love to pick fabrics with unusual textures or prints or embroidery.  This decision to choose new and different fabrics helps to set us apart.  Just because a rep says a fabric is a top seller and everyone has been buying it, doesn't mean we'll always pick it.  We strive to have a unique selection and want customers to be refreshed by our selection when they walk in the door.   Throughout the year, we have also built a great customer base and met a lot of really special people.  They make each day even better, and it's great to see our customers coming back again and again.  We also do custom sewing and embroidery.  Over the past year, we have made a wide variety of projects from pillows to curtains to baby bedding galore.  One of the most rewarding aspects is to see the happiness on a customer's face when we help them pick fabrics for a room and when they see the finished product all put together.  I only hope our next year is even more successful and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us at Willow Tree Fabrics!
